The context

The business.

Comten is a structural engineering practice with detailed expertise across a range of services. A prospective client might arrive with a building problem to explain, while still working out which kind of engineering help they need.

The business problem.

The website needed to connect an unfamiliar problem with the relevant expertise. A homeowner and a project team can bring different levels of technical knowledge, so the service information, project examples and next step needed to make sense to both.

What we needed to understand.

We needed to understand the situations behind an enquiry: what someone might be trying to build or resolve, which service was relevant, and what would help them recognise the practice's experience. That context had to sit alongside the technical detail.

How we approached it.

We shaped the service structure, plain-language content and website design together. Connected service and project pages gave the expertise a useful setting, with enquiry routes that followed the information a visitor had just been reading.

What we put together.

  • A responsive website with a structured service architecture
  • Clear service and project information
  • Useful enquiry pathways and technical search foundations

A closer look

The detail
behind the work.

A way into the expertise.

The content architecture gives different enquiries a sensible starting point. Service pages explain the work in plain language, while project information gives the technical capability context.

Content and structure, developed together.

The design makes room for detailed service information without turning every page into the same long list. Reusable page patterns keep the practice's areas of expertise connected.

More than a page

The foundations
around the delivery.

Service architecture

A connected structure for specialist engineering services.

Project context

A way to show the application of the expertise alongside the offer.

Search foundations

Page structure and technical details considered as part of the build.

The practical value.

The structure gives someone a starting point even when they are still learning the terminology. Service explanations and real project context help them work out the relevant area of expertise and take a more informed question into the next conversation.

A clear service story and reusable page foundations help technical experience become easier for a prospective client to understand.
